POSITION PURPOSE:


Working with the Director of Care and Assistant Director of Care Nursing, Purchasing Clerk is responsible to provide support service by researching, ordering and purchasing required nursing supplies.

The Nursing Purchasing Clerk will also support the Nursing department by performing clerical functions.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Ontario secondary School Diploma
  • Experience with medical purchasing and supplies
  • Extensive experience in computer scheduling software in Long Term Care
  • Welldeveloped English language skills, comprehension, oral and written.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


  • Must possess excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and be able to adapt to individual differences and team dynamics to produce effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to courteous, sincere, and sensitive customer service. Presents a positive and caring attitude in all interactions. Shows patience, tolerant, accepts diversity, and presents a positive image of themselves in all professional interactions
  • Knowledge of nursing supply options and suppliers
  • Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure with multiple deadlines and frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability in both people and operational issues.
  • Computer proficiency in windows and excel and internet computer programs
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment

FUNCTIONS:


  • Materials Management research, ordering/ purchasing, storing/ stocking, and delivery of Nursing materials
  • Health Record management (current and closed files)
  • Backup/replacement for fulltime Nursing Support Clerk to ensure continuity of some responsibilities of this position during absences.
  • Data processing
  • Participate in professional and inhouse inservices including Surge learning mandatory training.
  • Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in The Glebe Centre's ethical and Professional Codes of Conduct.
  • Other job related duties as required.

Confidentiality and Privacy of Residents and Clients is of utmost importance. All employees are expected to hold in confidence, information about residents, clients and members. There is also an expectation that information shared between team members or other staff, is confidential unless otherwise specified.

Prevention of Resident and Client Abuse is primary and there exists an obligation to report abuse or potential abuse. Resident and Client comfort and safety is a primary focus of the Glebe Centre.

Employees are expected to meet their obligations as far as scheduled hours and shifts are concerned. Regular attendance and being on time ensures resident and client safety and team functioning.

Showing respect is an essential requirement of all Glebe Centre employees. The Glebe Centre's Violence and Harassment Policy defines and elaborates harassment and violence in the workplace. Any violation will be taken seriously.
