JOB DESCRIPTION
The Home Attendant provides high quality resident service to the residents of the Home and reports directly to the Home Manager.
The Home Attendant works collaboratively with residents and their family members to maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, their visitors, and staff.
The Home Attendant upholds Dynamic Health Management's (DHM) mission, vision, and values.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports and attends to resident's needs as required
- Assist in food preparation, dining room service, recreational activities, and light housekeeping and laundry services
- Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff
- Provide evening security and emergency response for residents when required
- Change and replenish bed linens and towels as needed
- Effectively communicates and interacts with residents, family members, visitors, and volunteers in a polite and professional manner
- Responds to resident requests in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner
- Responds to resident or family concerns and ensures acceptable action is taken or brings to the attention of the Home Manager
- Ensures compliance with all relevant legislation including but not limited to: Public Health guidelines, regulations, policies and procedures, directives, and collective agreements
- Works and follows all health and safety policies and procedures to reduce risk of injury to self, residents, and other staff
- Reports actual and potential hazardous situations to appropriate authority
- Upholds public health guidelines and infection prevention and control standards
- Performs other duties assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of secondary school or equivalent, postsecondary degree preferred
- Have at minimum of one (1) year experience in longterm care or relevant healthcare setting or experience in providing personal care services
- Possess basic understanding of safety and fire codes
- Demonstrates strong and effective communication skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Evidence of consistent updating of skills and knowledge
- Willingness to upgrade and maintain personal and educational qualifications as required by the changing demands of the job
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- There will be considerable walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items while overseeing the Home
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, Public Health guideline or policy
- Stress associated with the performance of workload for deadlines, organizing and constant communication with families and other Home staff
- Able to respond to emergency situations as needed
- Must have an updated Vulnerable Sector Screening and Criminal Records check
- Must have COVID19 vaccination status as fully immunized or have a valid medical exemption
