Knox Presbyterian Church is a vibrant, Christian community church in the heart of Oakville. It is a very busy place Knox Oakville is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help connect people, within the church, with volunteer opportunities in order to support the work of the church and its many ministries and programs.

Overview:_

A part-time role, reporting to the Clerk of Session the Volunteer Coordinator's primary responsibility is to support the church by developing a volunteer database and program to connect people to volunteer opportunities.

This is a new role requiring 15-20 hours per week and will, initially, be a one-year contract.

Responsibilities:

_

Identify short and longer-term volunteer opportunities with the help of staff and program leaders.

Communicate volunteer opportunities (using various communication forms) and solicit volunteers (new and existing) to help fill the needs.

Create a database of current volunteers who are part of the Knox congregation.

Create a database of volunteer opportunities, which would be easily accessible to the congregation and updated as needed.

Act as a liaison between staff/ministry leaders and the congregation to meet ministry volunteer needs

Coordinate with the Knox Youth group ("The Knot") and local high schools to recruit volunteers for one-off church events allowing student volunteers to earn community service volunteer hours.

e.g., Seasonal garden clean-up)

Organize and lead volunteer appreciation and recognition events

Qualifications & Skills_

Experience with Excel or other database tools
Experience as a volunteer in any capacity
Excellent interpersonal skills and someone who enjoys engaging with people
Good verbal and written communication skills in English
Strong organizational and problemsolving abilities, able to multitask
Someone with initiative, and able to work independently as well as with the various program teams.
Experience with database management by way of Excel or ChurchTrac
Knowledge of Knox and its members and adherents would be an asset.

Remuneration

Range of $20 to $25 per hour depending on education and certification, experience, and knowledge of Knox and its members and adherents
Vacation pay per the Ontario ESA minimum of 4% (6% once reach five years of service)
