Your role


You will plan for, select, organize and acquire or provide personnel, facilities and materials to support the production of programs or program elements either for television or online.

Planning responsibilities include pre-production and post-production, following through with format and telecast requirements.

General direction is provided but there is latitude for, and an expectation of, independent judgment and initiative. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously with constant interruption; you must adhere to critical deadlines.

Tact and diplomacy are essential, as decisions must satisfy the needs of several interested parties with varying priorities.


Main responsibilities:


  • Participates with Senior Managers, Producers, and Unit Managers in the long
- and short-term planning for productions, either by attending meetings or by receiving specific requests.

  • Ensuring production materials are properly organized and archived on the shared computer drives.
  • Identifies and obtains or provides the appropriate personnel, facilities, materials and services for any given production process. In so doing, ensures that resources are available when required and obtained at the best possible price.
  • Negotiates, both inside and outside the Corporation, whether domestic or internationally, for the provision of personnel, services, facilities and materials.
  • Ensures that scheduling and other reporting systems are updated accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Provides an overview of all production activities and recommends corrective action to accommodate timeline changes or the need for new and additional productions.
  • Ensure the proper functioning, maintenance, shipment and storage of materials and/or facilities provided or acquired.
  • Maintains an uptodate knowledge of all collective agreements and corporate policies.
  • Adheres to established workflows and standards to help ensure reliable operation of CBC production resources.
  • Keeping track of production schedules and delivery dates for internal tracking and reporting.
  • Responsible for the management of all media for the Olympic Features unit and as required by the department

There is also an expectation that you have knowledge of the following areas:

  • Remote field production and ENG (Electronic News Gathering) field operations.
  • Postproduction processes.
  • Familiarity with CBC internal workflows and CBC Studios knowledge is an asset

  • Graduation from Community College or the equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience that demonstrates an indepth understanding of the television and/or digital production process.
  • Must be detail oriented, thorough, and able to multitask in a high volume, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to work without supervision; highly tactful, well organized; very motivated selfstarter.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to efficiently collaborate.
  • Ability to come up with creative solutions and assist in developing innovative procedures to ensure collaborative and responsive service.
