About the BCLDB:


The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province.

The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

Retail Operations, encompassing the three retail business units of Merchandising, Marketing and Store Operations, is responsible for the daily operations of the 198 BC Liquor Stores.

The Retail division develops and executes key strategies to drive business, creates systems and processes, and establishes daily retail procedures to maximize operational excellence, while upholding BCLDB's core values of service, relationships, and results.

About this role:

The Portfolio Program Manager is the BCL leader in further developing a culture of prioritized organizational selling.

The Manager is responsible for leading, managing and providing direction and training to Product Consultants for sales activities, feedback cycles along with facilitating the bi-weekly tasting program with Category Managers.

This position also provides a back-fill for category and product knowledge support for Category Managers as well as a secondary resource for external communications and events.

The Portfolio Program Manager is accountable for the financial results of Product Consultant programs.

Position requirements:


Education and Experience:


A degree or diploma in category management, merchandising, sales, marketing, or business with a minimum of 4 years of recent, related experience*.

OR

A minimum of 6 years of recent, related experience*.

  • Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last 8 years and must include the following:
  • Completion of Wine & Spirit Education Trust III (WSET III) or equivalent wine and spirits certifications e.g., International Sommelier Guild (ISG), Society of Wine Educators, Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine Scholar Guild.
  • Experience in retail management, beverage alcohol agencies or sales management.
  • Experience working in a supervisory role, establishing priorities, and leading teams in the beverage alcohol industry with offpremises sales will be considered first.
  • Experience in developing sales plans, conducting analysis and making recommendations.
  • Experience providing advice and strategies on products based on market performance.
  • Experience as an alcohol beverage product consultant.
