Under the general direction of the Senior Building Operator, responsible for the operation, running, and maintenance of the
electrical, mechanical equipment and systems used in providing essential services such as building environmental control, security,
and fire protection for 360 Portage Ave. The Building Operator will be responsible for the operation, programming and duty cycle
scheduling of the computerized building management systems (BMS).

The successful applicant will reside within the Winnipeg headquarters zone (which includes a 5km radius beyond the perimeter of
Winnipeg) or within a 20 minute traveling distance from 360 Portage Ave during periods of standby. In the event that this
requirement causes the employee to incur incremental costs during periods of standby, such costs will be the employee's
responsibility.

Notwithstanding the above, it continues to be the Corporation's preference for employees to regularly reside within the Winnipeg
headquarters zone or within 20 minutes driving distance from their assembly point.

PERSONNEL RISK ASSESSMENT AND CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED.

_ Responsibilities:
_


  • Perform all shift duties, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all heating, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical,
and mechanical equipment. Directly responsible for same outside of normal working hours

  • Monitor building performance through the building management system and adjust as required to meet energy and comfort
targets.

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs to building systems and equipment. Also required to resolve a wide variety of
service requests that originate from employees in the workplace and tenants.

  • May be responsible for outside contractors outside of normal working hours
  • Authorize work clearances for Manitoba Hydro employees and contractors.
  • Perform routine water sampling and analysis to maintain water treatment programs for potable and process water systems.
  • Will be required to participate in a rotational after hours standby/oncall program.
  • Perform regular house cleaning duties in designated areas.

_ Qualifications_

  • Grade 12 education and possess a valid Fourth Class Power Engineers Certificate of qualification (or higher) with a minimum
of one year related experience, having a strong mechanical aptitude to satisfy all requirements of the position'

  • Demonstrated ability to work with computer software including building management systems
  • Technical knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical services.
  • Willing to update technical knowledge in keeping with changing technology and processes.
  • Physically capable of performing all the normal duties of the position.
  • Capable of working at high elevations, and enclosed or confined spaces.
  • Possess a full set of personal tools as required under Manitoba Hydro policy.
  • Familiar with and adhere to Manitoba Hydro Safety Manual and other safety practices and procedures.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba


  • Hydro policy P51

  • Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training is required and must be completed prior to transfer date and renewed annually.

_ Salary Range_
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $ $32.14 Hourly,
$46, $61,578.92 Annually.
