Financial Controller position:
Reporting to the Management Team, the role has direct reports, with primary accountability for managing system implementation and day-to-day accounting.
You will have the ability to work in a fast paced, challenging environment with the capability of identifying opportunities and driving change.
The role requires an experienced Accountant with strong systems background working in a manufacturing environment.Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop and implement financial reporting
- Establish and implement automated financial controls in the organization's ERP system and accounting system (Sage)
- Identify system improvements and manage the development and implementation of improvements
- Establish data governance and integrity of financial data
- Transfer of data from legacy systems into ERP
- Impact and assess proposed changes to the system and report findings accordingly
- Support training requirements across the Finance team
- Create and maintain system documentation including process flows and training materials
- Automate accounting processes and develop procedures.
- Manage the accounting team with respect to the daily finance activities including receivables, payables, and cash management
- Track expenses and process expense reports
- Daily Finance accountabilities
- Assist in financial statement preparation for the annual review engagement
- Preparation of forecasts with complementary controls and variance analysis
- Provide strategic leadership and direction in all financial aspects
- Oversite of internal controls
- Liaising with banking partners, auditors and third parties
- Providing analysis and insights to leadership team
- Creation and maintenance of company dashboards and operating reports
- Continuous improvement financial analysis
- Inventory analysis
- Preparation of product costing models
- Special projects or tasks
- Financial and government regulatory filings
- Work on adhoc projects
- Other duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications:
- University degree or diploma in business or accountancy
- 5 years of experience in an accounting environment/capacity
- Accounting designation completed (CPA, CMA, CGA)
- ERP systems experience
- Experience with Sage an asset
