Our PRESTO Solutions & Technology division is seeking a Manager, Technology Roadmap & Release Planning to develop a robust and holistic planning function to support the various programs of work across our portfolio, and ensure effective delivery of PRESTO products and the technology roadmap.

PRESTO is an electronic fare system that enables travel across the GTHA region and Ottawa.

Supporting our growth ambitions, PRESTO is undertaking significant modernization over the coming 5 years, evolving our payment experience, our technology stack, and our ecosystem of suppliers and partners to offer more seamless travel and new value for our customers.


What will I be doing?

  • Work with various stakeholders to define release calendar for the PRESTO organization
  • Manage and gate technology changes for the PRESTO organization
  • Identify gaps and develop process the streamline change management and release management process for the organization
  • Work with vendors and partners to highlight size and complexity of releases
  • Document and define the release intake, planning and gating process for the organization
  • Identify the release forum agenda, stakeholders, cadence and reporting. Manage risks and impacts on an ongoing basis
  • Work with the project managers, Service Ops team to track health of release bundle
  • Consolidate package health commentary from various forums to ensure integrity of release. Identify opportunities to rationalize conversations and process using LEAN methodologies
  • Track and manage any impacts to release package. Leverage recovery plans, interim releases and other tools available to manage health of release
  • Create tools and artefacts that are data driven and facilitate easy analysis of data
  • Work with program and project managers to track health of program and projects in the release
  • Work with the Change Advisory Board to ensure cross dependencies and conflicts are identified
  • Work with the Deployment committee to ensure key partners, stakeholders and Transit Agencies inputs and perspectives are captured
  • Hold owners accountable for their commitments
  • Be the glue between teams in a complex matrix organization to ensure everyone understands how to get releases delivered, what our plans are, and what their contribution is
  • Work across programs, supporting technology, business and delivery organizations to ensure that both business values and service levels are delivered/met
  • Ensure appropriate levels of reporting to enable leadership oversight of delivery at key governance forums on a regular basis

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience leading technology Release strategies (e.g. planning, gathering, and consolidating business requirements, coordinating system configuration )
  • Demonstrable success in delivering on time and on budget projects and programs
  • Deep knowledge of and interest in a mix of project and product deliver methodologies and how they intersect
  • Experience working on release planning and management on both Agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Experience working with blended teams including internal and external (vendors/consultants) stakeholders
  • Strong planning skills at both a high level and low level of detail, with a strong focus on interdependencies
  • The ability to facilitate the resolution of challenging problems and drive decision
  • Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills
  • Experience in building strong relationships to get results from team members, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Financial acumen with a strong knowledge of budget development and management processes
  • Ability to develop business cases and proposals
  • Proficiency in MS Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
