    Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto's subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier.     Our GO Expansion Sponsor Team is seeking a Senior Advisor, Go Expansion for a 'once-in-a-career' opportunity to be a part of the transformative GO Expansion Program. The GO Expansion Sponsor Team is responsible for benefits management of projects within the program which is predicated on collaboration and 'One-Team' (Capital Delivery, Operations & Maintenance, Sponsorship) delivery approach. As a member of the Team, you will work closely with a GO Expansion Sponsor, conducting analysis to support risk and value management; assisting with the preparation of Sponsor products that define requirements and support internal governance, and; helping to resolve issues that may hinder realization of project benefits including engagement with stakeholders.

    What will I be doing?

  • Reporting directly to the Vice President of Transit Planning, lead the development of improved business processes, reporting, strategic deliverables development and tracking, and continuous improvement projects for the GO Expansion Sponsorship team.
  • Work collaboratively with staff across GO Expansion Sponsorship's five business units to support issues escalation, deliverables tracking and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and review executive and external briefing materials for key GO Expansion products.
  • Support KPIs measurement and other departmental reporting and tracking;
  • Liaise with Chief Planning Officer office and other Chief offices to support workplans, timelines and finalization of deliverables.
  • Lead the development of a standard suite of executive communications products
  • Support Vice President of GO Expansion Sponsorship in the development of an employee retention and attraction strategy and leadership development plan.
  • What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in Business, Public Administration, Strategic Business Communications, or related field – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Minimum six (6) years' experience, ideally in the public sector, developing business processes, strategic communications materials; managing special projects, complex and sensitive issues/tasks, timely flow of information along with stakeholder interaction.
  • Knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of organizational practices, workflows, stakeholder management, and strategic communications.
  • Project management to plan, organize, and coordinate internal and external resources engaged in business planning activities to meet timelines, budget limitations, and adhere to quality control standards and best practices
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office (. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong influencing/negotiating as well as political acumen capabilities to deal with a variety of stakeholders, agencies and staff to ensure successful outcomes and achieve goals.
  • Analytical skills to analyze business needs, and identify and assess communications risks and impacts on company reputation and develop recommendations for corrective action
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to write business memos, prepare presentations, edit and compile reports, and develop strategic communications.
