LBTS Data Technician III:


Seaspan Shipyards is proud to be Canada's long-term, strategic shipbuilding partner for building the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy under Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS).


Through the NSS, the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War.

The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy.

Through its NSS-related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

As a result of its NSS-related activities, Seaspan Shipyards contributed $2.6 billion to Canada's gross domestic product between The Land Based Test site is another step to Seaspan establishing a strong team to design, integrate and commission the ships electronic systems


The Data Lab Technician III assists systems engineering and software test departments to design, develop and implement system test environments in support of project development and requirements.

Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Ave, North Vancouver, BC V7P 2R2,


What you'll do

  • Solid understanding of system networks and software scripting.
  • Investigates and recommends software efficiency and testing tools for use within the Engineering Test Team.
  • You will contribute to the improvement of the system design, software coding, and development methodology.
  • Collaborate with internal and external data providers on data validation providing feedback and making customized changes to data feeds and data mappings
  • You will craft to volume by specifying load tests to deliver stable and robust software.
  • Rigorous, curious, detailed, passionate about software development with quality and reusability, a strong communicator, selfmotivated and a teamplayer. Willing to learn new/different programming language.
  • Utilize formal software configuration management and control tools
  • Assisting in the development and maturing Interface Control Documents, ICDs.
  • Assisting in Laboratory test setup and planning.
  • Assisting in test development (procedure writing) for system verification and validation.
  • Performing the Formal execution of tests.

What you'll bring

  • A Bachelor's degree or technical diploma with 58 years of experience
  • Eligibility to register as an engineer (EIT or Peng) with EGBC is an asset
  • Ability to understand and work with sophisticated software requirement specifications.
  • Background in data modelling, data access, and data storage techniques an asset.
  • Experience fixing and adapting software/hardware an asset.
  • Ability to work optimally across a multidisciplined team.
  • Ability to work independently to develop solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to a high standard of safety and able to follow all safety laws and all the employer's safety policies and rules.
  • Proficient digital literacy. Solid understanding of basic Microsoft Office 2010 software suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with National Marine Electronics Association 0180, 0182, 018
  • Knowledge of Data packet analysis with software (i.e., Wireshark).
  • Knowledge of International Electro technical Commission Standards IEC611621/2/450 an asset.
