Role Overview:


Reporting to the Director of Community Fundraising and Events, the Community Sponsorship Specialist will play an important role in the achievement of elevating Diabetes Canada events and partnerships by developing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of new corporate supporters.

The Community Sponsorship Specialist will also work closely with other members of the Community Fundraising and Event team and National Corporate Fund Development team to build relationships and ensure collaboration, strong, consistent stewardship of our donors and corporate partners.


Location:

Yorkland Blvd, North York, ON M2J 4Y8.

A flexible work agreement policy in place allowing employees to work on a hybrid schedule, working remotely and opportunity to work in-office.


This role includes, but not limited to:

  • Identify, develop, and cultivate corporate relationships to help sustain and grow the Community Event portfolio, including solicitation for employee engagement initiatives, events and point of sale campaigns.
  • Support the events team in soliciting new sponsorship over $10,000 for signature events and peertopeer events
  • Work in partnership with the Manager of CFE and National Corporate Development team to identified to and maximize corporate support and engagement.
  • Develop compelling proposals and presentations for corporate prospects that align with the Diabetes Canada business plan and market trends.
  • Manage a pipeline of qualified prospects and coordinate pipelines with other fundraising activities.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new contacts, companies and growth opportunities.
  • Facilitate a moves management approach to corporate constituents tracking data within the organization's CRM system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
years of proven fundraising experience in a high relationship-based environment

  • University or College degree in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, or related discipline
  • Some flexibility to travel throughout the region and to attend evening and weekend events
  • Nonprofit experience in a health charity an asset
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines with advanced organization skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytic and problemsolving skills
  • Position demands the ability to positively interact internally as a team member, as well as externally with donors and leadership members
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft office
  • Experience with CRM an asset
  • Very organized with strong time management skills
  • Clear, consistent, and effective oral and written communicator
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change, with an ability to be flexible
