We are currently looking for a Project Manager based out of St. Thomas, ON
Our mission has started. Volkswagen Group's largest cell factory in St.

Thomas will carry out all battery activities - from processing raw materials to developing a unified Volkswagen battery to managing the European and North American gigafactories.

Reporting to the PMO Manager, this person will play a pivotal role in various aspects of project management across different domains and within their own project portfolio during the ramp-up phase and beyond.

Key responsibilities include participation in quality management, time scheduling, risk assessment and mitigation, reporting, and other project-related tasks in collaboration with other project managers and relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and standards.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Provide support by assisting in the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, milestone timelines and documentation, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  • Support risk management activities by proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks, working closely with project teams to address potential threats to project success.
  • Address problems through risk management and contingency planning and present solutions and/or alternatives to PMO Manager and relevant stakeholders
  • Support the preparation of presentations and reports on project milestones, risks, and issues, providing valuable insights to stakeholders and decisionmakers.
  • Monitor and report on project progress by communicating project status through formal briefings, project update meetings, and/ or written reports.
  • Implement change control procedures to assess the impact of changes to project scope, schedule, and budget, communicating effectively to stakeholders while ensuring proper documentation and approval processes are followed.
  • Participate in the implementation of best practices and standardized methodologies across project teams, promoting consistency and quality in project delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and serving as a point of contact for PMrelated inquiries, fostering collaboration and communication across project stakeholders.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development to stay updated on project management practices and industry trends, enhancing skills and knowledge in project management.
  • Collaborate with other PMO teammates to leverage crossfunctional project synergies, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing across projects and teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or relevant to the position, contributing to the overall success of the PMO and organization.

Qualifications:


  • Post-Secondary Education in fields such as Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations or related areas, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ year's professional experience managing projects in complex & interdisciplinary environments, ideally within construction, advanced manufacturing, or industrial settings.
  • Project Management certification (e.g. PMP, CAPM, CSM or similar) is highly desirable.
  • Indepth knowledge of project management tools (Jira and Oracle Primavera) and Agile methodologies
  • Planning and organization skills within a project environment (applicability of PM tools).
  • Ability to work in an intercultural environment including empathy and interpersonal understandings.
  • Ability to coordinate and interact with all levels of stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Occasional travel within Ontario, as well as internationally (~10%).
  • Ability to maintain flexible work hours to account for time zone differences with Europe, when necessary.
  • Overtime may be required to meet rampup deadlines
