THE OPPORTUNITY

Campfire Circle is seeking an Intern, Prospect Research to support the development team this summer.

The Intern will support the Development team with Prospect Research, and help to proactively identify major gift and sponsorship prospects.

This will include identification, research profiles, qualification and evaluation of new and existing prospective donors and data entry.

This role reports to the Associate Director, Donor Experience & Analytics.

Key Accountabilities:

Prospect Research

a) Conduct detailed research using subscription-based services and publically available resources to identify and qualify the philanthropic interests of current and potential supporters and their capacity and interest in supporting Campfire Circle.

b) Provide in-depth, accurate and timely prospect profiles for staff conducting fundraising activities.


c) Mine current database (Raisers Edge) to help maximize financial support by evaluating previous gift data, relationships and other available information.

d) Pro-actively source new prospects through media and sector-specific resources, like donor lists and gift announcements.

e) Complete special research requests to support donor development and fundraising activities.

f) Manage and track constituent relationship activity, profiles, and research information in database through disciplined and rigorous use of Raiser's Edge software.

g) Update donor records and donor files.

h) Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Manager or their designate.


ABOUT YOU


In accordance with our mandate of creating a caring and safe environment for ill children and their families, we require attestation of childhood vaccinations, updated Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Screening, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 for all of our staff.

Additionally, all of our staff are required to be currently eligible to work in Canada.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Criteria:_
a) Enrolled in a post-secondary diploma/degree program.

b) Has an interest in fundraising, research and the non-profit sector.

c) Ability to follow ethical standards, demonstrate professional judgement and utilize discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

d) Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, as well as strong intuitive skills and curiosity.

e) A demonstrated ability to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines and work under the pressure of time constraints.

f) A proven ability to work independently with the flexibility to take on a wide variety of assigned duties and projects.

g) A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

h) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, supporters and volunteers.

i) Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Advantageous Criteria:_
j) Experience working or volunteering in a fundraising/not-for-profit environment.

k) Interested in non-profit fundraising.

l) Familiarity with research techniques; willingness to learn how to use new resources.

  • Particular Working Conditions:_
a) This role will work in a hybrid environment, with 2-3 days per week working in office.

b) In consideration of the population Campfire Circle serves, the incumbent is a non-smoker.

c) This position may support the occasional Campfire Circle event, which can occur on evenings and/or weekends.
