Girls Developmental Gymnastics Program Lead Coach


Located in the heart of the city, Vancouver Phoenix Gymnastics is one of Canada's largest and most successful clubs with two operating facilities.

Home to the best climate in the country, Vancouver is a world-class, internationally-recognized city, perfect for those who love experiences and the outdoors.

Phoenix Gymnastics has a strong recreational program inclusive to ages 0-100, while also consistently producing some of Canada's top gymnasts, many of whom represent the club and province and have become National Team members representing Canada at international competitions.

We are seeking an energetic and vibrant Lead Coach to run and organize our Girls Developmental Program.

The GDev Program is intended to prepare athletes training 6-12 hours per week for higher level programs like Xcel or the Canadian Provincial Program.

This position will work closely with our WAG Head Coach to assist with planning and administration, coach classes as needed, and support other Girls Dev program coaches and athletes as directed.


Responsibilities Include:


  • Develop and implement an annual program for GDev;
  • Create program rotation schedules in conjunction with other programs;
  • Coach within the program and support with coordination of physical testing and intake testing;
  • Supervise, assist and mentor GDev coaches, as well to junior coaches and coaches in training;
  • Plan and implement program events including: inhouse testing and minicompetitions, yearly schedule, social events, etc.;
  • Work with Admin to manage athlete uniforms and other program administrative needs;
  • Communicate annual program & Club event information to coaches, athletes and parents;
  • Schedule and conduct regular group and parent/coach meetings;
  • Provide regular verbal reports, member and staff feedback to the WAG Head Coach; and
  • Promote and support Club fundraising efforts.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Legally eligible to work and live in Canada;
  • NCCP Comp 1 Trained, or foreign equivalent;
  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to hiring being confirmed for individuals 19 years of age or older;
  • Respect in Sport certificate completion;
  • Completion of the 'Commit to Kids' course within the first 3 months of employment;
  • Must meet the certification requirements in Canada and BC, including First Aid (or have a willingness to get it);
  • Energetic, active and engaging attitude to create a positive and respectful training environment;
  • Clear, empathic, patient, and open communication skills;
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills;
  • Ability to create and foster positive team and training environments; and
  • Energetic, active and engaging while coaching.
