  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist CDW to facilitate food distribution program with limited supervision
  • Provide support to CDW, teammates and volunteers at different sites
  • Assist with any daily activities as needed
  • General cleaning and organizing
  • Set up and maintain program space and manage program supplies
  • Must adhere to food standards and health and safety practices
  • Lead activities and supervise children and youth who participate in programs

Skills & Experience:

  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to manage schedules, create program plans, track registration and expenses
  • Strong leadership, communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to perform tasks independently with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively with persons of various abilities and cultural and income backgrounds
with an understanding of the challenges faced by children, youth, and families living on a low
- income
  • Lived experience of and/or commitment to issues of poverty and social justice preferred
  • Ability to speak in a language relevant to our communities is an asset
  • Must be able to lift between 2050 lbs and stand for 34 hours at a time
  • Experience in program planning, implementation, facilitation and evaluation
  • Minimum high school education required
  • Commitment to understand and uphold the mission and values of House of Friendship
  • Exemplary emotional intelligence, resilience, communication, conflict management and problem
solving skills required- Ability to work professionally as a team member with staff, participants and community members

  • Experience or strong interest in working with diverse populations including people from various
cultural backgrounds, income levels, and sensitivity to their needs- Experience with and commitment to using an anti-racism, anti-oppressive and trauma informed

approach to consultation, program design, evaluations of processes and service delivery- Must be dependable, professional, flexible, a team player, and have a positive attitude

  • Respectful, supportive and engaging approach to persons with physical and/or cognitive
disabilities, addictions, mental illness and other life challenges- Experience working with children, youth and adults in a community or social service role

  • Excellent project, timeline and deadline management skills including skills in logistics, planning
and detailed record keeping

  • Min: $18.32
  • Mid: $20.80
  • Max: $23.28
  • Working Conditions:
  • Up to 6 hours per week generally evening, weekday hours, and occasional weekends
  • Flexibility required; willingness to work irregular hours
  • Work will generally be on site at community centres throughout the region of Waterloo
  • May encounter participants at program sites who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol,
and/or experiencing symptoms of mental illness.

This is a permanent, casual position. Work schedule will include up to 6 hours weekly evening shifts, with occasional weekend shifts. Flexibility and willingness required to potentially work irregular hours. A Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check, processed within the last 6 months, will be required.
