DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Wash and sanitize animal cages, racks and bottles in large passthrough washing machines.
  • Janitorial maintenance of the facility, including sweeping and mopping, cleaning and disinfection, and removing garbage.
  • Wash and sanitize, animal pens with high pressure steam washer and cleaning detergents.
  • Change animal bedding materials according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Disinfect and decontaminate cages contaminated with infectious materials.
  • Create chart entries in animal health records, complete cleaning and disinfection records and complete surgical debit reports.
  • Wash, package and sterilize surgical and gnotobiotic supplies.
  • Deliver supplies and materials outside the hospital using the departmental van.
  • Transport supplies and materials within the hospital.
  • Maintain the facilities Reverse Osmosis water maker.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience working with lab or farm animals is an asset.
  • Class G Drivers License and driving experience.
  • Ability to understand and solve mechanical problems.
  • Experience working with cleaning machinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the Hospital's mission and values.
  • Must have a good attendance record.
