Overview:


This
Operations and Sustainability Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for assisting in the administration, planning, budgeting and direction for the operations of the Centre including front and back of house support services, technical services, conversion, custodial services, facility security and control, and equipment inventory control.

Responsible for the implementation and oversight of sustainability intiatives.

Insures an effective and cost efficient program by monitoring the Operations budget, and performs related day to day responsibilities as required.

This role will pay a salary of $55,000 to $75,000.

Responsibilities:


  • Assume responsibility in the overall day to day operations and maintenance of the venue.
  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff; coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for facility maintenance and operations; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Operations budget; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary
  • Identify, develop and oversee Sustainability initiatives for the venue.
  • Point person for venue involvement in GOAL program.
  • Coordinate the setup of events with the Event Manager and the Operations Supervisor, including facility arrangements, concessionaires and vendors; direct and monitor the work of contractors, engineers, and architects on building projects
  • Oversee facility security staffing and Building Control Room operations.
  • Order supplies and materials for maintenance programs within budget guidelines; receive and maintain supplies.
  • Maintain hazardous materials communication program, material safety data sheets and required records and permits; maintain knowledge of changes to pertinent Federal, Provincial and Local regulations
  • Develop and maintain an accurate record keeping system including equipment maintenance and inventory logs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Oversee Housekeeping operations for event, post event and non event needs
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including overnights, early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended number of consecutive days.
  • Coordinate facility arrangements and monitor the work of contractors and suppliers; including any equipment rentals. Report any issues or concerns to Director of Operations immediately.
  • Ensure staff are working safely, efficiently and are aware of proper safety guidelines and procedures. Meet with operations staff on a regular basis to address any concerns and to ensure open communication and dialogue within the Dept.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five(5+) years' experience in an operations position in arena, convention center or public assembly facility with knowledge of set up/housekeeping and event coordination including progressive supervisory responsibility.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements
  • Familiarity with sustainability protocols and programs
  • Knowledge of boilers, chillers, refridgeration and ice making helpful.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required; including excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Selfmotivated with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
