Emerging Energy Lead

The Emerging Energy Lead acts as WBF's ambassador for expansion of WBF's impact into the Emerging Energy sector.

WBF has long standing history and partners in Energy and is now ready to integrate Emerging Energy into that portfolio through a defined strategy and related stakeholder and programming effort.

The Lead will develop a multi-year emerging energy strategy for WBF to build, sustain and grow our engagement with the emerging energy sector and how to best prepare and connect women to related and impactful employment opportunities.

This role will also establish and oversee an industry specific Advisory Council.

Using industry connections, and with a strong understanding of industry needs and expansion areas, you will support the development and activation of WBF's Emerging Energy programs.

This is a full time, permanent, hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as face of WBF brand in engagement with Emerging Energy Stakeholders.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with Emerging Energy stakeholders across Alberta.
  • Drive the development and delivery of the Emerging Energy engagement plan.
  • Develop a multiyears strategy for WBF's growth and engagement in the Emerging Energy industry.
  • Support curriculum development for Emerging Energy programs.
  • Identify barriers for women in this sector and define related approach for managing referrals and/or recommendations for support of program applicants.
  • Support WBF's Industry Relations efforts through professional interactions with employers/partners.
  • Provide support for WBF alumni in this sector.

  • Strong knowledge of emerging energy sector and familiar with expectations in trades and industry.
  • High level of personal integrity and commitment to putting the Mission and values of Women Building Futures into action.
  • A connector who is interested in building and nurturing relationships and strengthening a network that includes industry and government.
  • Great capacity to adapt in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Excellent public relations skills, dynamic and energetic individual with excellent communications and public speaking skills.
  • Strong communication skills: confidence and comfort speaking to folks from across sectors and at all levels of an organization, ability to communicate information in clear, concise ways, and adapt for a variety of participants and audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy are necessary in order to work with diverse backgrounds; must be able to interact professionally with a variety of internal and external client groups.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
  • Alignment with WBF's values and culture, including a commitment to continuous learning, and creating safe, inclusive workplaces with respect for all employees, applicants, students and stakeholders.
Education & Experience

  • 5 years minimum of demonstrated experience preferably in the energy sector, or relationship management experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience liaising between internal teams and external personnel.
  • Diploma or degree in a related field or Red Seal Certification (e.g., fund development, business, marketing, communications, public relations, or social sciences).
  • Awareness of the challenges of women working in nontraditional roles; cultural, economic, and social barriers to adult learning and employment.
  • Flexible; able to address the challenges faced by industry partners and to work occasionally outside of business hours. Some evenings and weekends are required.
  • Significant capacity to travel throughout Alberta and across provinces is required
