Key Responsibilities:


Team Leadership

  • Oversee the daytoday operations of the accounting department including A/P, A/R, Financial analysts, tax analysts, treasury analysts, remote branch administration.

Finance and Accounting Leadership

  • Responsible for timely month end close process including cutoff, combination, production of final financial statements (segmented and combined), variance analysis and identification of corrective actions as required. Preparation of management discussion and analysis (MD&A) for review by Senior Leadership Team and internal business leaders
  • Identified as immediate priority by CFO
  • Looking to enhance the timeliness and accuracy of the company's reported financial results in addition to adding KPI accountability (currently at inception stage; excellent opportunity to be on the ground floor for this project)
  • Need to educate internal business leaders on expectations for financial performance (tied to definition of KPIs)
  • Work in concert with CFO to coordinate monthly financial performance reviews for remote sales branches
  • Responsible for entire year end audit process including production of audited financials with notes in accordance with auditor requirements/review
  • Responsible for production and distribution of comprehensive fiscal budgets within defined timelines set by CFO
  • Mircom utilizes team approach to complete budgets which assures accountability within each layer of operations
  • Controller will act as main contact during budget process and will be responsible for confirming accountability for all departments
  • Responsible for maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records to sustain GAAP compliance
  • Responsible for maintenance of an adequate systems of internal controls designed to mitigate risk including definition and maintenance of standard operating procedures for remote branches
  • Responsible for maintenance of cash management/treasury function (in concert with CFO) including preparation of cash flow forecasts (reconciled to fiscal forecasts), weekly reconciliation and variance analysis with recommendations for actionable items, execution of financing transactions and/or strategies, maintenance of timely lender compliance (as defined), maintenance of timely debt service schedules, and recommendations for investment of surplus cash (if and when applicable)
  • Work with CFO and internal business leaders on M&A opportunities as they arise including due diligence on acquisitions/divestitures, execution of integration plans for newly acquired enterprises, driving internal corporate reorganizations to completion
  • Responsible for maintenance of statutory tax compliance (income, sales, etc.) working tax analyst and CFO
  • Manage select outsourced functions
  • Partner with the CFO, senior leadership, and the human resources (HR) and information technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate finance, HR, and IT functions.

Requirements and Skills:


  • Postsecondary degree in Business/Accounting with CGA (CPA) designation
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a midsize company (>$50M in global revenues)
  • Experience managing a staff of employees
  • High level of proficiency in the use of MS Office including Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Experience operating within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating within a multicompany, multijurisdictional, and multicurrency environment
  • Some travel may be required
