Job Summary:


The Director of Energy Services oversees the development and delivery of energy services and opportunities in the Canada (except Quebec) and US region, working closely with Energy Analysts, Engineers, Project Managers, and BD staff to identify, qualify, scope, and propose energy services opportunities.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Able to manage and lead a technical team related to energy analysis, energy engineering, construction costing, financial analysis, measurement and verification plans.
  • Work closely with the sales and business development staff to meet with clients, to identify potential energy services and related opportunities.
  • Qualify opportunities on the basis of technical potential, client interest, past interactions, competition, availability of resources, etc.
  • Perform walkthroughs and energy audits of potential client's buildings to identify possible energy services measures and overall project.
  • Lead the development of ASHRAE Level I, II and III audits and studies for commercial, institutional and industrial facilities, and participate in the technical work up with technical resources of on your team.
  • Participate and manage the detailed analysis of energy and carbon reduction measures by the technical resources on your team.
  • Manage the financial analysis of the project opportunities costs, savings, incentives, grants, financing, etc.
  • With the sales and BD staff, present the capabilities of Ainsworth to potential clients, partners, associations, etc.
  • Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders and present the technical and financial proposals. Present the developed projects to clients with the end goal to lead to the implementation of the project.
  • Work with regional partners, such as consulting engineers, suppliers, utilities, other contractors, property developers, etc. in the development of energy services and related work.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, partners, Ainsworth staff and other stakeholders as required in verbal, written and presentation modes.
  • Energy services and related work may include energy performance contracting, Energy as a Service offerings, Design Build Finance Operate Maintain (DBFOM), microgrid and platforms, street lighting, Electric vehicle charging, etc.
  • Work with your shared services technical staff to keep up to date with current grants, incentives, programs related to energy services.
  • Upon a signed energy services contract, lead the setup and kickoff of the project with the assigned Ainsworth Project Manager, staff and client. Maintain the highest level of health and safety, quality and customer satisfaction while Ainsworth financial goals and timelines.
  • Work collaboratively with clients and other stakeholders to create the best value and achieve goals set out in the project charter.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and minimum 10 years of relevant work experience and knowledge in the energy industry, as well as working knowledge of construction that spans all aspects, such as, but not limited to: retrofit, HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Civil, engineering, commissioning, etc.
  • Substantial knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems, building automation system, envelope, and renewable power generation
  • High expertise in managing the development of an energy services related project, including leading the technical team to conduct energy saving calculations and financial analysis.
  • Working knowledge of energy and sustainability standards and regulations in the region.
  • Developing knowledge of incentive, grants and tax programs for energy projects in the regions.
  • Some proficiency in energy modelling software such as RetScreen.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external clients as well good verbal, written and negotiation skills
  • Strong time management skills and inner motivation are keys to this position.
  • Must have the ability to simultaneously handle a large and diverse number of projects, tasks and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform work independently and demonstrate solid organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • LEED AP, CEM, CIPMVP certification is an asset, as well Professional Engineering designation.
  • G Driver's License required with a personal car for site visits and meetings
