Position Summary


The Set-Up Operator's role is to organize the sequential arrangement of knives, spacers, and industrial rings on the slitting header in order to get high-quality steel strips.

This role is responsible for all activities to do with the set-up operation.


What you'll do:


  • Review work order specifications to determine proper machine setup for inputting correct sizes into the computer
  • Setting up the head properly on the setup computer printout
  • Checking for the proper orientation of the knives after the setup is finished
  • Stripping down the next head before setting up and clean/sort the back knives and rubbers into proper locations
  • Assist Operator to perform visual checks of slit edge, coil flatness and material surface condition (both top and bottom)
  • Assist Operator to perform measurement checks of material using calipers, tape measures and micrometers

What you'll need:


  • High school diploma or related job experience
  • Ability to speak English and understand English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematic calculations of standard and metric measurement

Working Conditions:


  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work in a fastpaced environment where deadlines must be met
  • Ability to work overtime as required
