    Position Overview


    As an Automation Technician in our Maintenance Team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and providing maintenance repairs to the cranes and other automated machinery within the facility.

    Requirements


    1. Perform preventative maintenance and unplanned electrical and mechanical repairs
    2. Electrically and mechanically maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated equipment
    3. Perform planned maintenance on automated cranes, conveyors, and specialty equipment
    4. Proficiency in using basic hand and power tools to perform repairs
    5. Complete electrical and mechanical root cause analysis, fault finding and diagnosis
    6. Analysis of component failures and single point of failure prevention and recurrences using system information
    7. Establish and improve inspection methods and component or process improvements through continuous improvement program
    8. Read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
    9. Responsible for system performance monitoring and operational status
    10. Collaborate with other technicians on mechanical and electrical problems
    11. Use WITRON's Computerized Management System for shift crossovers, tracking parts, and completing work orders
    12. Understand and follow site-specific protocols and escalation procedures
    13. Perform maintenance as per structured maintenance schedule
    14. Document and complete planned repairs and maintenance activities
    15. Inspect, repair, and replace electrical and mechanical wear and spare parts inclusive of all set-ups and calibrations
    16. Perform maintenance-related cleaning of equipment and provide support to equipment operators
    17. Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
    18. Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications


    Qualifications for this role include:

    • 2-3 year degree or diploma in Electromechanical Engineering technology or equivalent
    • Red seal endorsement in Electrical 442A/ 309A / 5th-year Industrial Electrician apprentice or Red Seal endorsement in Industrial Millwright or final year Industrial Millwright apprentice
    • Training or certification in PLC programming and troubleshooting
    • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in an industrial automation environment or manufacturing with both mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting and repair
    • Rigging and hoisting experience of loads up to 1 ton
    • Experienced and comfortable working with AC voltages up to 480V and controls voltage of 24V
    • Familiarity and adaptability to the 5S system
    • Welding experience considered an asset
    • Physically able to lift 25kg unassisted, climb ladders and cranes, work at heights exceeding 20 meters, work in conditions of +5C to -25C
    • Flexibility in working hours between days, afternoons, and nights (including weekends)
    • Excellent computer literacy including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges and tasks
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Must be meticulous and able to work independently and safely
    • Willingness to travel to other sites for training
