RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.

Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

Our laboratory's research goal is to identify causal pathways for cardiovascular disease, which in turn may identify therapeutic targets.

Based on our international collaborations we have access to data sets of cardiovascular disease phenotypes and genetic variation.

This is an entry-level position in bioinformatics and data analysis.

General Duties

  • Acquire very basic knowledge of genetics, molecular biology,
  • Performing simple bioinformatic analyses using tools available on the internet to identify clinical traits and risk factors that may contribute to cardiovascular disease,
  • Work in close collaboration with other members of the team and developing analytical skillset,
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of molecular biology will inform their bioinformatics and genetic data analysis to answer specific scientific questions,
  • Responsible for keeping accurate records.

This position is a Canada Summer Jobs opportunity. This is a government program offered to young Canadians aged 15 to 30 years old.

To qualify, you must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment and legally entitled to work in Canada.

Status:
Temporary Full-Time (35-hour workweek), 8-week contract


Pay Scale:
$18.00/hour


Work Shift:
Monday to Friday 9 AM to 5 PM
