Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, of Perioperative & Perianesthesia Services the Perioperative Clerk is responsible for supporting clerical functions within the Perioperative Department.


Qualifications:


  • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Successful completion of a Medical Terminology course required
  • Successful completion of the Hospitals Electronic Medical Record (EMR) training required upon hire
  • Completion of Medical Office Administration program is an asset
  • Completion of a recognized postsecondary diploma/degree is an asset
  • Two (2) years related experience required in a perioperative setting.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Excel and Word).
  • Good working knowledge of SURGINET, PM office, SN report builder preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to run program reports and correct anomalies through SURGINET preferred
  • Familiarity with the OR Booking document preferred
  • Good working knowledge of ordering specialized implants for Ophthalmology and Orthopedic Services, with attention to detail, preferred
  • Wait Time System (WTIS) data input preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospital structure and functions.
  • Demonstrated keyboarding skills minimum 50 words per minute.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to interact with a range of individuals in a variety of situations and settings, which require tact, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly motivated and flexible.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and adapt quickly to new situations/challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload and multitask under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a productive team member.
  • Must be able to demonstrate through performance, a thorough understanding of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Satisfactory work performance and attendance record.
