Manager, IT Security who will report to the VP, IT Operations and play a crucial role in safeguarding our digital assets by developing security policies, ensuring compliance, and fostering a strong security culture.

What's the role?


As the
Manager, IT Security, you will be responsible for safeguarding our organization's IT infrastructure and data assets, developing and enforcing security policies, managing risk, maintaining security infrastructure, conducting security awareness training, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will foster a security culture through collaboration with various departments and external partners. You will stay ahead of emerging risks through continuous monitoring and threat intelligence. Your dedication to security audits and proactive reporting ensures the organization's robust security posture.


Your duties will include:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of security policies including reviewing, updating, and enforcing policies and procedures that establish guidelines for the secure use of IT resources.
  • Setting standards for user access, data handling, password management, encryption, and other securityrelated practices.
  • Responsible for conducting regular risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and threats to the organization's IT infrastructure including evaluating 3rd party's solutions, strategic partners, and services.
  • Determines appropriate security controls and implements strategies to minimize or eliminate risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Oversees the design & implementation and maintenance of security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, and encryption mechanisms, ensuring systems are up to date, properly configured, and effectively protecting the organization's assets.
  • Leads and manages IT security incident response efforts, including developing and maintaining incident response plans, coordinating with relevant stakeholders, investigating incidents, and implementing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future
  • Ensures that the organization meets compliance and regulatory requirements by establishing appropriate security controls and monitoring adherence to relevant standards.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma requiring 34 years of fulltime study or have an equivalent combination of education and experience in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • CISSP, CRISC, CISA, CISM certifications preferred but not essential.
Ideally, you are a flexible, collaborative team player with:

  • Minimum seven (7) years' experience in Information Technology and IT Security
  • Experience in a financial institution is preferred.
  • Experience with information security risk frameworks, threat and risk assessments
  • Experience with information security policy frameworks
  • Experience with information security regulations (BCFSA)
  • Experience with information security industry standards such as NIST
  • Experience with a Governance, Risk and Compliance tool is a plus.
