This position will be assigned a Fall/Winter rotation but teaching assignments may be changed by the Dean/Associate Dean and occur in any of the three semesters.


  • Developing and delivering a wide variety of courses in our Office Administration Health Services Diploma Program
  • Evaluating student progress / achievement
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Incorporating a variety of learning / teaching strategies and technologies to meet student needs
  • Participating in portfolio / academic / campus and collegewide activities as required
  • Participating in course / curriculum revision, course / program revision and renewal activities
  • Developing alternative delivery strategies, and online course development and teaching, as required
  • Detailed descriptions of responsibilities, are defined in the classification definition of professor in the Academic Collective Agreement

QUALIFICATIONS:


Required:


  • Bachelor of Health Administration, Business, Science, or Bachelor degree in a closely related field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience concentrated in Office Administration
  • Health/Medical
  • Experience in general practice and/or specialty OHIP billing with an understanding of the billing cycling, remittance advice reports and reconciliation of error reports
  • Previous teaching experience at a postsecondary level and / or adult training experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problemsolving skills
  • Proven ability to contribute to, and work in, a positive team environment and to foster the same in their students' commitment to lifelong learning
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including students, faculty, support staff, administrators and community stakeholders
  • Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to effectively integrate new technology into teaching and learning

Additional Asset / Preferred:


  • MBA, MSc or Masters degree in a closely related field
  • Demonstrated progression in a leadership and management capacity within an office administration working environment
  • Direct Involvement with Interprofessional education related to health care and office administration health
  • Experience with Health Records Management
  • CHIM designation
  • Experience with Health Informatics CPHIMS certification an asset.
  • Community and or volunteerism contributions related to the field of Health Services /Office Administration
  • Demonstrated use of current technologies to support student learning and management of grades (e.g. learning management systems, Student Information Systems, audience response tools)
  • Experience with online course development and / or online teaching
  • Experience in some or all of the following: universal design for learning, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, student success strategies
  • The ability to source and or implement initiatives as they relate to the field of Health
  • The ability to teach in more than one program area
