Overview:
The
Lab Technician is part of the Hub City Paving team on Vancouver Island. This team supports Hub City Paving/Lafarge customers through New Product Development (NPD), Innovative customer solutions and customer support. In this role, you will work as part of a team and carry hot mix asphalt and aggregate lab work as directed.
Responsibilities:
As a Lab Technician, you will:
- Follow lab Operating Procedures and Safe Working Procedures for all lab tasks and equipment
- Preparation and sampling of hot mix asphalt, completion, and reporting of hot mix asphalt Marshall Analysis tests, prepare, batch and test hot mix asphalt mix designs, asphalt coring on compacted pavement.
- Aggregate testing (grading, durability etc)
- Accurately documents results/observations and maintains paperwork and/or computer databases
- Collate test results and inputs into files/databases ensures that all data is filed in accordance with the QMS
- As required, maintains the calibration files and maintenance/servicing files for lab equipment and processes
- Ensure that the H&S and housekeeping standards are maintained
- Work in the field as needed

Education & Experience
- Polytechnic or University new grads are encouraged to apply
- Work experience in the laboratory or field testing of hot mix asphalt or aggregate.
- This role is physical and will require the handling and lifting of dusty and heavy materials (aggregate, hot mix asphalt, and equipment)
