The Infection Prevention & Control Lead reports to the Assistant Director of Care, and is responsible for providing oversight and leadership to the infection, prevention and control (IPAC) program for HMLTCH.

The IPAC Lead provides consultation to all clinical and non-clinical areas on matters of IPAC and ensures infection control measures are in place at all times.


  • Reporting into the Assistant Director of Care, the Infection, Prevention and Control (IPAC) Lead is responsible for providing oversight and leadership to the infection, prevention and control (IPAC) program for HMLTCH. The IPAC Lead provides consultation to all clinical and nonclinical areas on matters of IPAC and ensures infection control measures are in place at all times.
As the IPAC Lead, some of your responsibilities include:


  • Coordination and implementation of infection prevention and control practices for the home;

IPAC Training & Team Member Compliance:


  • In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Care and Resident Home Area Managers, determine training requirements to ensure compliance with changes in legislation, directives, policies and procedures;
  • Plan, develop, deliver and implement training/orientation for current and new employees in accordance with legislation, ensure appropriate documentation;
  • Regularly evaluate training programs to ensure the needs of the home is being met;
  • Act as a resource to staff, education coordinators and management regarding training and education, including new developments/techniques related to infection prevention and control;
  • Participate in regular IPAC Specialist team meetings, Joint Health & Safety committee, work groups and special projects as assigned;
  • Participates in IPAC networks, committees in the sector; maintaining currency in knowledge through research and/or professional development, as well as reporting to internal committees
  • Monitor staff compliance with infection prevention guidelines regarding the disposal of sharps and biomedical waste, use of personal protective equipment, hand hygiene practices and provides reports to the Infection Prevention Committees;
  • Responsible for oversite of the mask fit testing program within the home including tracking & reporting mask fit testing status, ensuring team member maskfits do not expire and remain current
  • Supports onsite IPAC education and training during emergency events
