ENTRY TO SCHOOL PROGRAM

Temporary Full Time hours per week

July 4thth - August 18th, 2023

Brampton and Mississauga Sites

Work Arrangement:
On-site


Position Summary:


ErinoakKids is currently seeking energetic Summer Student Assistants to support children and youth with disabilities in the Entry to School (ETS) program (Mississauga and Brampton).

The ETS program is a part of the Ontario Autism Program that supports families with children with autism ages 3 to 6 who are entering school for the first time.


The program includes:

a six-month group-based skill-building program focusing on building skills that prepare children to enter school and transition supports for children when they begin school for up to six months.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of daily activities; prepare resources and professional materials
  • Support clients in a classroom environment
  • Assist clients with personal care routines (eg. toileting, feeding & transitions)
  • Promote participation in leisure activities and social skill development
  • Other duties as assigned by program leads

Qualifications:


  • Working towards a diploma or degree in Autism Behavioral Sciences, Early Childhood Education, or Child and Youth Worker is a strong asset;
  • Experience working with children with physical and developmental disabilities is an asset;
  • Experience in daycare, classroom and/or camp settings is an asset;
  • Experience assisting individuals in personal care is an asset;
  • Current C.P.R, First Aid and CPI certificates are preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills;
  • Enjoy working with children in a team atmosphere;
