- Lead the development of tender/proposal call documents to acquire a broad range of goods and services using a competitive process
- Ensure a fair and open process when requesting, receiving and evaluating quotations, proposals and tenders
- Analyze tender/proposal submissions against established criteria and recommend contract award and/or review the evaluation process and scoring of offers to ensure compliance against established criteria
- Implement and oversee a standard vendor management process, including the creation of tools to evaluate KPIs
- Analyze spending patterns to identify prominent suppliers and seek preferred pricing arrangements to help reduce costs
- Train and support staff throughout the organization to ensure compliance with Science North's procurement policies and processes.
- "Enforcer" of the procurement policy and provide general guidance throughout the organization given the decentralized purchasing model
- Develop related tools to streamline procurement processes
- Maintain up to date knowledge on industry best practices and the Broader Public Procurement Standards.
- Support the revision of the procurement policy and processes as required
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual procurement reporting requirements

Procurement Officer

The Procurement Officer will lead efficient and fair procurement of goods and services for both the second and eighth largest science centres in Canada as well as our numerous outreach locations. This individual will be driven by deliberate and focused communication with cross-functions peers and promote consultation to foster and implement a common approach and application across the organization.
Position Highlights:
The successful candidate will have a minimum five years' experience in a similar procurement role, ideally in the Ontario public sector. Additionally, the candidate will possess a working knowledge of the provincial Procurement Directives and have a basic understanding of contract law and related legislation. The candidate's technical knowledge and experience will be supported by exceptional communications (written and verbal), excellent interpersonal skills, and superior problem solving, organization/time management and negotiation skills.
