What is the opportunity?


As Enterprise Compliance - Data Scientist, you will develop, design, and implement organization-wide analytics for the RBC Enterprise Compliance Innovation, Transformation and Data Analytics team.

Providing Business Intelligence by leveraging leading edge technologies and various data sets, you will also build Data Science based insights to facilitate informed decision-making and business process optimization in order to create efficiencies and effectiveness of RBC Regulatory Compliance services which save considerable amount of costs and also improve user experience.


What will you do?

  • Collaborate proactively with various business and operation units to identify business opportunities and designing innovative solutions to optimize processes and promote informed decisionmaking
  • Develop Business Intelligence POCs, including work on challenging and researchbased initiatives using advanced machine learning methods focusing on tangible outcomes
  • Prepare insights using large and various types of data (structured/nonstructured)
  • Implement machine learning models, data mining methods, and statistical analysis
  • Leverage visualization tools/packages to create powerful representations of results
  • Produce datadriven insights to help in informed decisions and actions by telling a convincing story and effectively communicate findings to business partners and executives
  • Collaborate with the Innovation and Transformation team to deploy productionscale solutions
  • Quickly learn new methods, tools and technologies presented in research communities to implement and adapt within the daily analytics exercises
  • Support the development of data pipelines and onboard scheduled processes to DataIKU and later transition Big data tools and technology including Hadoop, YARN, Pyspark and Hive.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or relevant fields.
  • Expert in Python programming to write productionready codes.
  • Expert with Tableau and data visualizations techniques
  • Strong data profiling, cleaning, mining and technical documentation skills
  • Expert with Pyspark/Python, R and SQL
  • Practical knowledge of Data Science algorithms and techniques
  • 2+ years of experience in developing machine learning models for real business problems
  • 2+ years of experience with NLP and text analytics methods and packages
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong mathematical skills, able to learn quickly and write complex calculations (translating qualitative methodologies/standards to quantitative output)

  • Prior experience creating end to end data pipelines (ETLs)
  • Expert data extract, transform, and load processes with a variety of data types
  • Experience with developing stored procedures and triggers, import/export data, develop complex queries using various JOINs, in various data sources (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MS Access, etc)
  • Experience with big data technologies parallel processing techniques and Apache Spark, NoSQL/SQL databases
  • Strong data profiling, cleaning and mining
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Nice-to-have

  • Prior experience with Big Data tools and technologies, DataIKU, and working experience
  • Experience with big data technologies noSQL/SQL databases, parallel processing techniques and Apache Spark
  • Prior experience with Data Warehousing
  • Experience with creation and maintenance of tables and databases.
  • Familiar with a Linux environment and shell scripting.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of different deep neural networks architectures (RNN, CNN, GAN, seq2seq/Transformers) and transfer learning
  • Experience with MLOps to build endtoend pipeline and deploying models in production
  • Familiar with containertype environment: Docker, Openshift
  • Experience in graph analytics and timeseries analysis
