About the Role:

Global Regina is seeking a full-time Writer/Producer to join their team.

Reporting to the News Manager, you will work predominantly weekday evenings, but shifts can including early mornings and weekends, when necessary.


You will contribute by:


  • Write news content for a variety of news programs
  • Work closely with our production crew to produce compelling newscasts
  • Produce, write and post content for online, including social media
  • Work with field crews to ensure the best possible content goes to air
  • Identify and coordinate guest bookings for Global News programs
  • Display creativity in the use of production graphics and other visual elements
  • Make quick decisions when it comes to news judgement
  • Identify, source, and create stories of key interest to news audiences provincewide
  • Communicate effectively with other markets to facilitate requests and interviews
  • Keep current with local/national news
  • Possess comprehensive social media and online skills
  • Monitor all news sources, including feeds, wires and social media
  • Maintain Global News' high production standards
  • Perform other duties as required

Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Post-secondary education in broadcast television, journalism, communications or a related field
  • Minimum 1 years' experience producing television newscasts
  • Strong writing and organizational skills and able to work well under pressure
  • A proven leader that can work cooperatively with others in a teamwork setting
  • Positive attitude
  • Valid Drivers' license.
