Daycare Cook

Tuesday-Thursday, 7:00 am - 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm-4:00 pm

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Labour Relations and Policy Manager and under the direction of the St.

John Bosco Children's Centre Board of Directors (SJBCC BD) and senior management (Executive Director and Director), the Daycare Cook will be responsible for the purchasing and preparation of food items in accordance with weekly menus and ensure compliance with standards set out by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.


Qualifications

  • Safe Food Handlers Certification
  • Strong knowledge of Canada's Food Guide
  • Experience in a public sector or childcare setting would be an asset.
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen
  • Up to date immunization record
  • Drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle

  • Ability to work independently and use initiative as well as the ability to work within a team dynamic.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop nutritional menus that adhere to the Canada Food Guide and requirements set out by the Ministry of Education
  • Prepare lunches for Toddler and Preschool programs
  • Prepare morning and afternoon snack for all programs
  • Weekly grocery shop
  • Ability to prepare food in accordance with the dietary needs of the children including intolerances and allergies.
  • Participate in special family occasions by preparing one off menus (Christmas lunch, Mothers Day, Fathers Day etc)

  • Develop and maintain safe environment
  • Adhere to Health and Safety practices as outlined in the Policy and Procedures Manual
  • Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Community
  • Access and engage community resources

Demonstrates Professionalism

  • Ensure all practices and interactions with staff and children adhere/follow Code of Ethics (CEC
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Participate in mandatory staff and team meetings
  • Participate in centre wide activities (Year End BBQ, etc)
  • Follow licensing requirements
