***: Responsible for the timely, accurate and complete shipment of product, and for the receiving of raw materials and other supplies.RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK PERFORMED:
Shipping and Receiving
̈ Prioritize orders based on requirements from Sales and Customer Care and organize by ship date and by carriers they will be shipped with
̈ Book appointments with customers for shipping and for pick up
̈ Coordinate and document transfer of materials between DC and Freshstone Brands Kitchen
̈ Allocate orders to individual Pickers
̈ Monitor progress of orders and product through the plant and follow up on delays and missing product with Supervisors and Production Scheduler to determine when product will be made. If necessary, modify carrier schedule to coordinate with timing of product completion
̈ Advise Customer Care of any shipments that will be late
̈ Audit paperwork completed by Pickers and Receiver for completeness, ensuring that picking slips are matched with bills of lading
̈ Invoice orders through ACCPAC, printing bills of lading and invoices, and provide documents to Customer Care
̈ Qualify shipping carriers and monitor their performance, making improvements where possible
̈ Maintain master list (Excel spreadsheet) of which carriers deliver to which stores
̈ Special projects and assignments as required by Plant Manager
Employee Supervision
̈ Provide orientation and training to new shipping department employees (full time and temporary)
̈ Conduct toolbox meetings, communicating any issues of concern, reviewing existing procedures, and introducing any new procedures, as necessary
̈ Conduct monthly safety talks in accordance with schedule of topics provided by JHSC
̈ Direct and supervise employee activities, setting priorities for the shifts
̈ Ensure that employees are working safely, following safe work practices and wearing required PPE
̈ Manage employee attendance and performance, ensuring that employees are working productively and efficiently and following established GMPs and SOPs
- Provide reinstruction, training, correction, positive feedback or discipline as required
̈ Confirm daily attendance and ensure completion of emergency evacuation sheet
̈ Review / confirm employee work hours electronically for temporary and full time staff and make corrections as required
̈ Manage vacation schedule and arrange for temporary assistance to cover vacation periods when necessary
̈ Conduct shift meetings to review existing procedure or introduce new procedure, as necessary
SQF Responsibilities
̈ Responsible for food quality and safety, promoting the SQF program and ensuring department adherence to the SQF program
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
̈ Strong supervisory skills
̈ Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
̈ Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
̈ Thorough knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and Health and Safety regulations
̈ Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, ACCPAC)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
̈ 3 to 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
̈ Shipping / receiving experience required
̈ Forklift experience an asset
̈ Experience in a food processing plant preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
̈ Flexibility to work Day shift and Afternoon shift with some off shift attendance to provide supervision on weekends (as required)
̈ Combination of office environment (desk / computer work and meetings), and refrigerated shipping and production area. Intermittent exposure to outdoor conditions (loading docks)
̈ High level of responsibility; senior person at 1326 Victoria St, Kitchener.
̈ Combination of standing / walking (active supervision of Shipping-Receiving employees) and sitting (computer work and meetings)
̈ Occasional driving (personal vehicle) between 1326 Victoria St. Kitchener and 1604 Victoria St. Kitchener (shipping / receiving and warehousing) and (production and offices) locations
