Apathy is Boring is a non-partisan, national charitable non-profit organization that aims to support, educate and activate youth in Canadian democracy. We've reached thousands of youth through our VOTE program, which provides youth with up-to-date information about voting in all levels of Canadian elections. We've worked with hundreds of youth to realize projects to help their communities through RISE and learn how to advocate for issues they care about through BUILD. Through our bi-weekly newsletter, The FEED, we inform Canadians all about news about democracy, public policy and politics in Canada in a witty, bite-sized manner.

  • Reporting to the Director of Impact and Development, the Research and Evaluations Lead will be responsible for executing the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of Apathy is Boring's organizational impact. With the support and guidance of the Director of Impact and Development and in line with Apathy is Boring's organizational goals and evaluation strategy, they will drive the planning and execution of evaluations, impactrelated initiatives and research projects. In addition to guiding and consulting on program and project development internally, the Research and Evaluations Lead will monitor and brief other departments on broader research, including trends in youth engagement and the youth sector, democracy and current events.

Evaluations 45%:


  • Drive the iteration and maintenance of evaluation strategy and monitor progress on organizational goals.
  • With the guidance of the Director of Impact and Development, develop an evaluation strategy for new projects and programs.
  • Organize and monitor data collection for ongoing programs and campaigns, including analytics, surveys and interviews.
  • Provide analysis and synthesis of qualitative and quantitative data collected.
  • Draft impact reporting for internal programs and activities development.
  • Develop presentation deck content related to Apathy is Boring's impact research endeavours, as needed.

Research 30%:


  • Along with the Director of Impact and Development, oversee and maintain relationships with external research firms and researchers.
  • Lead & implement research projects and initiatives per the organization's priorities.
  • Provide research context & support in developing organizational strategic directives as needed
  • Lead the scoping and planning of organizational training in line with AisB's mission & values
  • Research and monitor trends and current events in Apathy is Boring hub communities nationwide.
  • Research and monitor trends in broader youth, public policy and democracy sectors, particularly in Canada.
  • Provide the broader team context and support around current events and civics.
  • Develop presentation deck content as needed.

Grant/ Donor Reporting 20%

  • Complete regular grant and donor reports.
  • Collaborate with Fund Development to ensure impact data is available for
- fundraising and donor relations.

  • Provide research & context to support the achievement of the fund development strategy
  • Research new funding streams, grants, & foundations to support the development of both existing and future projects/programs
  • Track and monitor progress on grant deliverables and evaluation metrics.
  • Support team by ensuring that all evaluationsrelated grant deliverables are met
- within specified timeframes.


Admin 5%

  • Ensure the achievement of expected timelines and deliverables and efficiently use human and practical resources.
  • Collect and track invoices
  • Take part in teambuilding and professional development activities.
  • Manage timelines and track tasks completed.
  • Track hours worked and maintain organized files.
  • Organize and update the CRM database as needed.
