Betel Home Foundation operates a 91-bed personal care home in Selkirk, Manitoba and an 80-bed personal care home in Gimli, Manitoba.

We are currently recruiting for a Summer Recreation Assistant in our Gimli site. The position will be an eight-week full time term position. The position will commence on July 2, 2024 or an alternate date as mutually agreed upon.


Qualifications:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good planning and organizational abilities.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and skills related to music or therapeutic fitness an asset.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Position Summary:


Under the general supervision of the Recreation Manager, assists with planning, organizing, and facilitating therapeutic and recreational activities for all Residents.

This includes large group, small group, and one-to-one programming, community outings, and special events.

Additional duties as assigned may include but are not limited to:

equipment cleaning, set-up and take-down of programming areas and resources, documentation, distributing informational material (calendars, newsletters, etc.), organizing supplies, surveying/auditing, and light garden maintenance.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist Recreation staff with therapeutic and recreational activities designed to meet the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional (spiritual, creative) needs of Residents.
  • Facilitate Resident programs as is appropriate based on skills, knowledge, and training.
  • Perform required documentation and record keeping tasks.
  • Recreationrelated equipment cleaning, setup and takedown of program areas, and outdoor garden maintenance and upkeep.
  • Transporting Residents with limited mobility to and from programs and on community outings (pushing wheelchairs and standby assist for those who use walkers or canes).

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract


Pay:
$15.30 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
