Description

Responsibilities:

Participate and provide planning and technical expertise on various City and agency committees; Coordination of appeals on planning matters before the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) or other Boards and act as an expert witness before the OLT
Research and review pertinent literature and Provincial legislation, attend training, workshops and seminars to enhance the operation on a continuing basis and
Performs other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job

Required Qualifications & Experience

A bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline
Eligible for membership with the Ontario Provincial Planners Institute (OPPI) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP)
1 3 years of relevant planning experience. Experience in a municipal environment would be considered an asset
General knowledge of the Planning Act, Official Plan, Zoning bylaw and Site Plan Control bylaws
Ability to read, interpret and evaluate technical drawings and reports, prepare response letters, and formulate recommendations to advise decisionmakers
Experience with Geographic Information Systems mapping and Cityview would be considered an asset
Strong organizational skills and ability to work with tight deadlines and competing priorities
Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
A valid class "G" Ontario driver's license is required
Bilingualism will be considered an asset, but is not required

The City of Cornwall offers a competitive wage starting at $39.90 per hour ($72,618 annually), 35 hours per week. The City also offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Salary:
$72,618.00 per year
