Marina Maintenance Personnel

Possibility of becoming a permanent position


At our lakefront location in downtown Kelowna, we provide our members with top-quality moorage in Canada's largest fresh-water marina, excellent food and beverage service, social events, and opportunities to assist others in the community.

A not-for-profit organization, Kelowna Yacht Club has been supporting boating education with safe, responsible enjoyment of Okanagan Lake since 1945.


Profile

  • Under the direction of the Dock Master, you are aiding in the safe and efficient operation of the marina for the Kelowna Yacht Club. You value customer service and ensure member satisfaction is of top priority. The maintenance Personnel are "hands on" members of the Kelowna Yacht Club staff working together within a strong team environment._

Responsibilities:


  • To always ensure safe and proper working conditions on the property
  • Complete repairs to the marina's facilities and clubhouse as required and/or directed by the Dockmaster
  • Complete service orders including installation and removal of equipment on the docks
  • Ensure familiarity with the club's safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure safety equipment is worn and used at all appropriate times when on the dock and/or boat
  • Provide courteous service to all Club Members and their guests who have access to Kelowna Yacht Club moorage
  • Ensure all boats moored in the marina are properly identified and report all unsafe practices or activities

Requirements:


  • Knowledge of general maintenance
  • Experience working with a variety of power and manual tools
  • Problemsolving skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written
  • Must have Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) or capable of achieving upon hire
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean Driver's abstract Class
  • Must be comfortable working on or near water
  • Boating experience is an asset

Abilities:


  • Ability to work days with flexibility to work on weekends
  • Comfortable working in an allweather environment, primarily outside
  • Ability to physically lift, pull, bend, reach, and carry
  • Must be able to work in a team environment or independently

Pay:
$21.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Experience:


  • Facilities maintenance: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (required)
