The Opportunity


As the Daycare Manager of Terra Early Learning, you will create a safe, innovative, inclusive, and nurturing environment that facilitates cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth of young children while building collaborative partnerships with families.

The Daycare Manager is focused on promoting educational excellence and fostering holistic student development, supporting staff growth, engaging the parent community, while ensuring licensing requirements are met, and strategically managing resources.


Role and Responsibilities
Culture

  • Develop a strong understanding of Terra's school culture, and what sets us apart from other early learning centers.

Staff

  • Provide visionary direction, guidance and support for educators.
  • Support staff onboarding processes and employee experience.
  • Effective management and development of Educators.
  • Lead, participate and support team meetings.
  • Organize, host and deliver ongoing professional development to deepen educator's understanding and strengthen Terra Early Learning's curriculum.
  • Ensure staff are operating within the Employee Code of Conduct at all times.
  • Initiate Employee Performance Record protocols when necessary.
Students, Families, and Community

  • Foster warm and trusting relationships with families and community members.
  • Effectively communicate Terra's culture, values, curriculum, mission and vision to prospective families and our community.
  • Oversee the school's delivery of outstanding customer (family and children's) experiences
  • Support the admissions and enrolment process.
  • Connect and engage in collaborative partnerships with fellow educators, colleagues, leaders, families, and the greater community.
  • Empathetic communication with families in vulnerable situations, such as Care Plan Meetings and Referral to Provincial Support Services.
  • Oversee and manage the development and implementation of extracurricular programs and activities.
  • Oversee the Before and After School program.
  • Host virtual and inperson tours with interested families.
  • Oversee staff and community events.
  • Implement Terra's policies and procedures to create a safe and caring environment for the Terra community.
  • Review and offer advice for all written documentation going out to families, including Care Plans and Reference Letters.
Curriculum

  • Cocreate and support curriculum development.
  • Ensure a quality instructional program is implemented, including educator's lesson planning, student assessment and reporting.
  • Contribute to weekly pedagogical meetings.
  • Contribute to weekly classroom meetings on emerging curriculum.
Administration & Operations

  • Oversee and ensure compliance of policies, procedures, and regulations outlined by VCH Child Care Licensing Regulations.
  • Support and communicate with educators, staff, and support team in maintaining and updating school processes and procedures.
  • Participate in developing and implementing policies and procedures to create a safe and caring environment for the community.
  • Oversee the management of ordering supplies and keeping track of inventory.
Facilities

  • Manage relationships with external contractors
  • Provide administration duties in the office by establishing and maintaining employee, student, and business files and records, processing invoices, and receiving incoming mail and phone calls.

Commitment

  • 40 hours per week
  • Permanent
  • Estimated start of position in fall/winter 202 8.5 hours per day, with a 30 minute unpaid break
  • Works hours will be between 7:00am to 6:00pm

Salary:
$30.00-$40.00 per hour
