This role will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to implement relevant and timely operating solutions and tackle complex problems through simple and adaptable project delivery methods.


What can I expect to do in this role?:

  • Accountable for the successful implementation of the energy infrastructure project to ensure successful completion on time, and on budget. This will include coordination with various Town departments, the energy infrastructure proponent, and Transit staff.
  • Responsible for working with the energy infrastructure proponent and other Town departments for the successful expansion of the transit garage
  • Responsible for the day to day onsite vendor related construction, and management of transit operational requirements that may be required as a result of onsite disruptions caused by the project.
  • Responsible for electric bus fleet planning and purchases (in conjunction with Oakville Transit Maintenance and Planning teams)
  • Preparing Battery Electric Bus (BEB) business cases for future fleet acquisition (in conjunction with the Town's Finance team)
  • Assisting the Director with project updates, preparing briefings and reports, preparing council update presentations
  • Working with the Town's Finance team to update the electrification cost forecast for full fleet and facility electrification
  • Identifying new processes and procedures for staff as a result of implementing the energy infrastructure program (Planning battery electric bus by route / identifying and monitoring rage of vehicles / reporting on future funding sources for the next phase)
  • Planning, preparing, and negotiating RFP's/RFQ's for future electrification related projects
  • Identifying Oakville Transit's peak energy consumption and working with the energy infrastructure proponent to standardize the Hourly Ontario Electricity Price (HOEP) for the Town of Oakville
  • Working with the energy infrastructure proponent to deploy and operate energy assets within a microgrid to provide electricity during the forecasted peak hours in an effort to eliminate any Global Adjustment charges
  • Collaborate with operational teams to identify new work methods and opportunities to improve processes with a focus on reducing energy consumption
  • Frequently collaborate with senior staff from internal and external stakeholders to address contractual matters, external claims, vendors, and public agencies. Produce and update contract performance reports.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements are maintained through reporting and audits. Identify gaps and develop plans where required to ensure regulatory compliance in all town facilities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain consultative support, supervision, and direction to staff engaged in continuous improvement, data literacy, project management, innovation, business analysis, and policy, procedure, and report writing.

How do I qualify?:


  • Successful completion of a four year university degree in Public Administration, Building Sciences, Civil engineering or Construction management. A background in Business and/or Finance is considered an asset. A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Certification/Accreditation in one or more related fields such as; Energy Management, Project Management (PMP), Process Improvement (LEAN
  • Six Sigma), Basic Refrigeration, Facility Management (IFMA, BOMA), Sustainability (WELL, LEED, Passiv House), and CPO
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in related field. Experience with energy management, facility operations and capital construction are assets.
  • Broad base of knowledge and experience in data management, developing continuous improvement programs in complex organizations and progressive management responsibilities.
  • Experience with service level agreements and standards, lease holder agreements, and interdependent priorities and goals.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills required in order to build relationships with clients, partnerships, service providers and in dealing with contract negotiations.
  • Ability to manage multiple lines of business, operations, and capital budget planning/administration.
  • Proven ability to develop, monitor and manage budgets.
