    Your Opportunity:

    If you have lived experience with addiction and/or mental health, this is the position for you. An exciting opportunity exists with the Young Adult Services Comprehensive Care Team for an experienced Peer Support Worker (PSW). The PSW is an essential member of an integrated, recovery-oriented clinical team that works collaboratively to meet the needs of young adults (age with addiction and/or mental health concerns. The PSW provides supports that are complementary to the work of the multi-disciplinary team by providing non-judgmental, emotional, and social support to others who share a common lived experience. Through your own lived experience(s) and experiences of recovery and resilience, you can authentically inspire hope to clients and demonstrate the possibility of recovery by sharing your story, offering mentorship and support, advocating for client needs, and supporting an integrated and resiliency/recovery-oriented treatment experience. This position is clinic and outreach based, and it has mobile capacity to support client appointments out in the community. The PSW will collaboratively provide 1-1 direct client work and they will co-facilitate groups. Working from a strength-based holistic approach, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to engage both young adults and their families. The role requires a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, work independently, and to plan, organize and prioritize work and to consult with clinical and administrative supervisors as needed. Candidates will demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with people from diverse backgrounds, including clients and co-workers.     Description:

    As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide interventions and supports that are complementary to the work of a multi-disciplinary outreach team. The team functions together to provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services for the diverse needs of clients navigating life impacting experiences. Through your own lived experience(s), and experiences of recovery and resilience, as the Peer Support Worker, you can authentically inspire hope to clients by sharing your story, offering mentorship and support; advocating for client needs; and supporting an integrated and resiliency/recovery-oriented health care and treatment experience.

    Additional Required Qualifications:

    Lived experience in recovery from addictions and/or mental health. Experience navigating addictions and mental health care systems. Must be willing to share personal recovery experience when circumstances permit. Knowledge and experience of systemic issues such as poverty, unemployment, homelessness, stigma, medications, and the isolation felt by individuals dealing with serious addiction and mental illness and their families are a requirement for this role.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Candidates should be comfortable working either one-on-one or in group settings. Experience working outreach in the community. Lived experience related to having an addiction and/or mental health concern (anxiety, depression, BPD, psychosis, etc).
