Purpose:


  • Reporting to the Sr Data Center technician, this Technician will be responsible for maintaining the data center environment _
    _in the downtown Vancouver Facilities__ and ensuring all customer server environments are secure, operational, and highly available through continuous proactive monitoring, customer support, and scheduled maintenance preparation._

_ Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
_


  • Responds to customer impacting events within data center facilities reported by customers or management systems according to SLA
  • Install cable runs, patch panels and cross connects. Performs cable lacing as per the Datacenter standards
  • Significant handson experience with the installation of both copper and fiber media types.
  • Expert working knowledge with cable testing systems to ensure operational integrity
  • Responsible to lead the troubleshooting process and repairs in case of customer events or equipment failure
  • Responsible for cleanliness of data center and common areas
  • Responsible for maintaining security procedures for site and data center access which includes: staffing the security office working access request cases escorting vendors and customers to and from secure areas
  • Monitors all Electrical, Mechanical, Cooling and Emergency Generator systems and reports issues and resolves as appropriate.
  • Work with and directly support Hut8 NOC (Network Operations Center) on facilities and customer issues.
  • Interface directly with customers and track interactions, progress, and resolution in trouble tickets
  • Perform timely technical and management escalations for outstanding trouble tickets.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be oncall after hours, including holidays and weekend.
  • Supervise facilities vendors during scheduled maintenance of electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire suppression, and emergency generator systems.
  • Manage and track capacity of MMR, MDF, IDF, patch panels and cables

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 23 years' experience in similar critical facilities
  • High School Diploma
  • Electrical certifications Preferred
  • Knowledge of VISIO, MS Office
  • Analytical troubleshooting
  • Ability to follow specified policies and procedures
  • Experience operating Electrical & Mechanical systems and the associated software for reporting and controls

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Working knowledge of HVAC controls, CRAC units, condensers, cooling systems.
  • Working knowledge of backup electrical systems, generators, UPS, ATS, switchboards.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits, 120V, 208V, single phase, 3 phase circuits.
  • Working knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and monitoring
  • General knowledge of Internet standards, cabling, protocols, and systems infrastructure
  • Ability to perform console access and other remote hands services for customers and our networking team.
