We are seeking an organized and self-initiated individual to fulfill a significant role within our Addiction Services and Housing areas.

We are seeking an individual who can develop and execute on a vision for data collection and analysis within our programs.

The Data Analyst will oversee the collection, analysis, and processing of data using data tools and business intelligence charts. They will complete inquires and disseminate internal and external reports. The Data Analyst will support staff training, conduct audits and oversee the administration of our Electronic Healthcare Record systems. This position also participates/develops staff training, conducts audits and oversees the dashboard and quarterly reporting requirements.


This is a full-time, permanent, salaried position with paid sick time, personal days and vacation; group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan.

This role offers 37.5 hours per week; generally daytime hours, Monday to Friday.

Flexibility required to meet the needs of the program.

Work may be performed from a home office for some hours of the week.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide analysis, insights, and presentation of data; as well as maintain technical specifications
  • Conducts validity and data quality checks as needed on outputs
  • Data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting
  • Processing data, using data tools, and Business Intelligence (Charts, Graphs, Data Dashboards)
  • Provides insightful interpretation to support strategic, operational, quality and improvement plans
  • The analyst will incorporate data and information from a variety of sources (quantitative and qualitative) to improve insight generation
  • Running queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Provide both ongoing and ad hoc insightbased and decisionready strategic analysis, reports and status updates
  • Using analytical skills in collecting, organizing, analyzing and disseminating significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Supports reporting to/from external agencies data portals (MOHLTC, funding agencies, CIHI, etc.)
  • Engages in data quality and other internal process improvement initiatives to support continuous improvement
  • Identifies areas of opportunity with respect to routine reporting to increase efficiency and reduce manual work
  • Contributes to process standardization and tool development to support improvement within the department
  • The ability to solve complex problems (or know where to find the answer) by:
  • performing an initial analysis to assess the quality of the data
- performing further analysis to determine the meaning of the data
- performing a final analysis to provide additional data screening

  • Supporting teams in setting targets based on data
  • Supporting the team in databased training and capacity building
  • Working alongside providers including Telus Health (EHR) and the Region of Waterloo (HIFIS)
  • Supporting the Memorandum of Understanding process with partners and data sharing agreements
  • Working directly with the management team in Addictions and Housing Services to support informationbased decision making
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training to support new employees as required
