The Opportunity:


The Expedition Equipment Manager is a position within the Operations Department, responsible for the selection, procurement, maintenance and inventory of expedition equipment onboard Quarks' fleet of marine based expedition vessels.

The Expedition Equipment Manager will work closely with both office-based and field-based teams to ensure all vessels and field staff are equipped with all necessary expedition gear and operational knowledge to safely deliver outstanding experiences to our guests.


What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for the procurement, maintenance and inventory management of expedition equipment onboard our fleet of expedition ships, including electronics (radios, gps, scopes and binoculars), adventure program equipment (camping, kayak and paddle gear), firearms, shore gear, safety equipment, onboard activities and all other required tools and equipment required to successfully deliver an expedition program.
  • Plan seasonal inventory by vessel including scheduled transfers of equipment between vessels and seasonal offloads and storage.
  • Key team member supporting expedition innovation planning and SOP development by providing operational expertise, equipment and safety perspective.
  • Communicate with key field team members including Logistics and Expedition Coordinators in advance of and during operating seasons to provide insight and product knowledge when required.
  • Participate in the receiving, packing and shipping of seasonal shipments to expedition vessels
  • Provide leadership, support and mentorship to the Expedition Operations Specialist in daily interactions, weekly 1:1s and quarterly reviews

What we are looking for:

  • Marine or Expedition experience required
  • Experiencing in purchasing or outdoor retail an asset
  • Experience in budget management an asset
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Creative thinking and problem solving
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong sense of integrity and responsibility
  • Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) required
  • Standard for Training, Certification and Watchkeeping
  • STCW certification preferred
  • Travel required
