Job Summary_


We are looking to hire a certified and detail-oriented
Clinical Lab Technician (CLT)—initially on a 6-month, fixed-term, full-time — with the possibility for an extension.

The CLT will be responsible for conducting routine laboratory tests, collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis—documenting, entering, and retrieving data with regards to samples and results.

Duties & Responsibilities_

  • Performing phlebotomies, while strictly adhering to proper aseptic techniques in the collection of blood samples for laboratory analysis
  • Entering patients' specimen data into the proper logbooks and worksheets
  • Demonstrating professionalism and the ethical responsibility to protect individuals' privacy
  • Using confidential information appropriately, and maintaining the confidentiality and security of all information related to patients, staff, and the Create Fertility Centre
  • Labeling centrifuge and aliquot specimens collected, including those requiring special handling and procedures
  • Preparing and packaging samples for sendouts, in accordance with biohazard protocols
  • Performing and documenting quality control and assurance programs
  • Monitoring and recording daily room temperatures and humidity—as well as checking on the refrigerators and freezers
  • Overseeing department inventory, and assisting in the timely procurement of necessary supplies
  • Assisting with the preparation of laboratory manuals
  • Lending a helping hand with general laboratory cleanup; maintaining a clean, tidy, and efficientlykept work area
  • Complying with all safety rules, health regulations, and preventative measures while conducing laboratory duties
  • Acting as receptionist for patients
  • Reliably adhering to a Monday to Friday schedule—as well as making yourself available for occasional weekends and holidays.
  • Other duties as designated.

What You Bring to CReATe: Education, Skills & Experience_

  • OSMT / CSMLS / CMLTO Certification is considered mandatory
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician Certification, or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a lab technician in a clinical laboratory setting, is preferred
  • A minimum of oneyear's experience drawing blood samples in a clinical setting is also preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Proven ambition to work in a professional healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated organizational, problemsolving, prioritizing, and timemanagement abilities
  • Confidence and comfort with working independently and as part of a crossfunctional team
  • Evidence of utilizing good judgment and professional discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive information
  • Computer literacy and prior laboratory data entry experience
  • A highly proficient medical vocabulary is also required.

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months


Pay:
$16.78-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
