BUSINESS SUPPORT ANALYST

ACADEMIC STRATEGY & INTEGRATION


NorQuesters are difference makers and we're searching for someone dedicated to leading from where they are to join our Dean's Office team as a Business Support Analyst.


Reporting to the Dean of Academic Strategy and Integration (ASI), the Business Support Analyst directly supports a designated group of academic leaders and program managers.

This position independently executes on cyclical operational and administrative activities and is delegated additional tasks that support key business functions in the area.


Additionally, the Business Support Analyst ensures that the ASI division financial management is provided with timely, accurate, and effective advice with respect to preparation and maintenance of program, project, and contract budgets (expenses, revenue, costing, forecasting).

This includes responsibilities for ensuring the accuracy of financial analysis and information, conducting necessary budgetary investigations, and resolving other financial and business process issues.


Position duties require a high level of confidentiality, initiative, tact, independent judgement, interpersonal, and organizational skills, as well as detailed knowledge of ASI budgets, contracts, and projects.

This position will require a comprehensive understanding of college HR, Finance, and Operations policies and procedures.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Design proposal budgets and provide expertise to project leads.
  • Maintain, track, and report on new and ongoing project budgets to ensure project and financial goals are being met.
  • Maintain an understanding of trends and analyze reasonableness of monthly cash flow estimates.
  • Monitor monthly expenditure reports and payroll reports to ensure budget forecasts stay within scope. Flag any issues to Dean and Academic Program Managers.
  • Understand how new initiatives, enrolment changes, and other factors impact budgets and forecasting.
  • Identify program and contract cost pressures and provide recommendations for cost containment and mitigation strategies.
  • Adopt and provide input to process improvements initiatives in the area, recognize opportunities for improvement, and continually make recommendations to improve efficiency and engagement.
  • Effectively communicate with Managers, Deans, faculty, and staff to ensure understanding.
  • Support the cycle of recurring business activities by using excellent verbal and written communication skills to answer internal and external inquiries, troubleshoot issues in systems, and create brandcompliant documents and functional spreadsheets that facilitate streamlined and transparent work.
  • Create and maintain accurate records to allow for further analysis by the Dean and Academic Program Managers.
  • Work closely with the Dean, Academic Program Managers, and Financial Services to ensure divisional forecasting and budgeting requirements are met.
  • Complete forms, data entry, and process requirements accurately and within timelines; run PeopleSoft queries for further analysis by Dean and Academic Program Managers.
  • Contribute to the relevant strategic and operational directions of the college, as they impact divisional business activities, ensuring full understanding and executing work requested.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Business Degree or Business Diploma or considerable relevant experience.
  • 3+ years directly related experience in a postsecondary environment, financial services, or information management environment.
  • Equivalencies may be considered.

SALARY:
$49,129-$63,854 reflective of what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is a full time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
