Reporting to the Supervisor of the Security - Program Management Office, and as otherwise directed, you'll be a key member of the implementation program team and, as such, provide project coordination leadership and ensuring program alignment to provide and maintain a high level of security and life safety services by delivering security risk assessments and security design installation services to City employees and members of the public visiting City facilities in a customer-focused and cost effective manner.

More specifically and most importantly, you'll provide leadership and guidance for constant improvement, innovation and efficiencies in planning and managing security projects from conceptual design to commissioning and turnover, while implementing strategies, guidelines, standards, processes and procedures for effective program and project coordination.


As a Security Project Coordinator, Corporate Security, you'll provide program and project coordination, strategic and activity support on a range of Corporate Security, program management office projects, initiatives and issues, and support the strategic goals and objectives of the Corporate Real Estate Management Division as well as provide support and coordination of many large multi-year programs including sub-projects affecting multiple City of Toronto Division's.

Leading by example as you will liaise with a core team of professionals, as well as across City Divisions, Agencies, Corporations and partners at various staff and executive levels, to coordinate program and project activities, administer aspects of the program budget, control expenditures, coordinate the teams project resource needs, ensuring effective teamwork in a diverse workforce, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, and promoting continuous learning and innovation.


Major Responsibilities

  • Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding physical security specific requirements. Audits effective deployment of physical security and risk measures.
  • Conducts research, audits and assessments into assigned areas ensuring that such research, audits and assessments takes into account developments within the security industry, corporate security standards, corporate policies and practices, legislation and initiatives by other levels of government.
  • Plan, support, and review Security Threat and Security Administrative Reviews for facilities to ensure the safeguards are sufficient and adequate defensive measures are in place to protect people and assets.
  • Provides input into and administers assigned project budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
  • Supervises assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality and organizational performance and continuous learning.
  • Represents Corporate Security to City divisions by providing advice, consultation and support to local property managers and senior management staff on security system, hardware, policies and procedures, health and safety and life safety compliance.
  • Makes recommendations to divisional management to support security operations and improve efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery that could result in alternate service delivery, changes in operational procedures, security system restructuring, and security resource allocation.
