PHS Community Services Society (PHS) is looking for Overnight Casual and Regular Mental Health Workers to fill a variety of frontline positions supporting marginalized people in Vancouver.
Mental Health Workers are the backbone of PHS.

They are embedded within PHS housing projects and programs to support residents and participants with immediate, practical solutions to day-to-day needs.

This position acts as the first to respond in medical interventions including overdose response.

PHS is expanding the casual pool due to ongoing growth, opening new residential units and support programs.

Mental Health Worker and Home Support Worker roles provide foundational skills - many managers and senior staff running housing and programs formerly worked in these positions.


Flexible scheduling:

Scheduling is completed monthly, with the opportunity to take additional hours at shorter notice throughout the scheduling period, if it suits you.

It's a CUPE 1004 union position, overnight and weekend premiums apply, access to our family assistance program available.


Responsibilities Job duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide harm reduction, support, and housing services for PHS residents and service participants.
  • Safety and security measures.
  • General cleaning duties for the project or program.
  • Crisis intervention/deescalation.
  • Acting as the first to respond in medical interventions including overdose response and medical emergencies.

Education and experience

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is required.
years' experience working with marginalized populations an asset.

  • Must bring a nonjudgmental, compassionate and antioppressive, harm reduction approach.
  • Class 5 Driver's License is a preferred asset.
An equal combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.


Terms of employment

Salary:
$30.64 p/h plus 10 percent in lieu of benefits; overnight and weekend premiums applied.

This is a unionized position under CUPE 1004.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a criminal records check.
