DIRECTOR, GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS
EXTERNAL RELATIONS & PARTNERSHIPS
Norquest is searching for an experienced and dedicated leader to join our Government Relations team as a Director, Government and Community Relations.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Develops and executes government relations plans, strategies, tactics, and materials for all levels of government in alignment with the organization's strategic priorities, supporting a diverse and inclusive educational sector.
- Demonstrates strong political acumen in analyzing key government documents including budgets, strategic plans, news releases, and policy announcements from all levels of government, as well as strategically relevant policy documents from third parties.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with an extensive network of strategically relevant contacts within the government, public service, postsecondary sector and other relevant stakeholder communities to ensure the college remains apprised of all relevant updates, outcomes, and initiatives.
- Oversees the planning and execution of College events that engage both the internal campus community and external stakeholders, fostering a sense of inclusivity and partnership, ensuring the events are strategically positioned and reflect the College's values and goals.
- Provides leadership, direction and oversight to the Government and Community Relations team. This includes ensuring all employees have access to an appropriate professional development and performance review process with their direct supervisor in order to enable their short
- Manages the relationship with any external vendors providing services, both project and contract based. This includes ensuring that NorQuest receives value for money and outcome delivery from these engagements.
- Develops and executes yeartoyear operational plans, multiyear business and strategic plans, and other deliverables required to support the short, medium, and longterm objectives of the Government and Community Relations team and provides input into the development of the College's strategic plans.
- Maintains an intimate knowledge of the college planning cycle and the deliverables required from the External Relations portfolio. Ensures all deliverables are completed on time while maintaining a high standard of quality.
- Provides project management leadership in collating, integrating, and synthesizing internal information from across the organization with relevant external information in order to ensure key government and community relations products are delivered as required. These include, but are not limited to, reports, policy/issues briefs, key messages, letters and recommendations.
- Works closely with the Chief of Staff & Director of Strategy, Media Relations & Communications Consultant, and others to proactively ensure that the Executive Team is apprised of any and all relevant activities and updates from government.
WHAT YOU BRING
- University degree in Business or an equivalent, Master's degree preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 8+ years of related experience, time spent working with elected officials and/or in a postsecondary environment would be considered an asset.
- Deep understanding of political, legislative, and community landscapes, with a focus on EDI and Indigenization.
- Expert knowledge of government policymaking and legislative processes with the ability to interpret and explain legislation.
- Established relationships with officials in government ministries, departments and agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop effective partnerships with industry, all levels of government, educational institutions, community groups, and other key external stakeholder groups.
