Facilities Manager - East Campus

Position Type:
Regular Full Time - 40 hours per week


Location:
East Campus, Calgary


Position Summary


Responsible for managing the day to day operations of a fully integrated facility maintenance, grounds keeping and housekeeping programs for East Campus to ensure CS(C) facilities are properly maintained; provide a safe, functioning and comfortable environment; and provide support to other Calgary Salvation Army properties Manages day to day operation of the Warehouse and CS(C)'s vehicle fleet in cost effective, safe, and efficient manner to ensure CS(C)'s programs are supported for their warehousing and logístical needs.


Hours/Schedule

Regular Full Time 40 hours per week**:

  • **Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
  • Must be available evening and weekends, when required._

What you will be doing in your role

  • Be familiar with all aspects of building systems and building and grounds operations; is conversant with all safety, fire, and building codes.
  • Ensure that established building standards and efficiencies are maintained.
  • Plan facility activities, control schedules, develop work standards and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government legislation, as well as Salvation Army policies and procedures, related to building maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Plan, direct, and may implement preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment; recommend and perform minor and some moderate repairs.
  • In conjunction with Director of Facilities, participate in planning and coordinating renovation projects, including dry walling, minor electrical repairs, painting, and plumbing.
  • Determine, recommend needed maintenance and custodial supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate with vendors and other organizations to coordinate activities and obtain assistance.
  • Conduct regular site inspections ensuring building and equipment meets scheduled and periodic maintenance requirements followup with Director of Facilities for action plan as required.
  • Ensure the department is fully staffed with qualified maintenance, facilities and custodial staff and that staff have the resources to do their jobs.

Required Education, Experience and Competencies

  • Completion of a college diploma program of at least two years.
  • Facility Management or Property Management Certificate earned through a post secondary school program (1 year minimum).
  • Police Information Check (PIC) with Vulnerable Sector Search; Child Intervention Check.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and satisfactory driver's abstract as a proof of clean driving record.
  • Current Alberta approved Standard First Aid with CPR.
  • A minimum of three years of prior related experience in supervisory/management in facility management of commercial properties. (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • Sound working knowledge of health and safety standards, general repairs (i.e., electrical & plumbing), building systems, fire safety, water treatment and electrical systems.
  • Project management skills including proficiency in planning projects, scheduling, assigning tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high level of energy and enthusiasm; very good verbal and written communication skills.
